What is the therapy for pharyngitis?

In case of pharyngitis, antibiotics are useful only in the presence of a bacterial infection. In case of viral infections these drugs are useless. You can try to improve your condition with hot or cold drinks, gargling with salt water and candy for the throat and inflammation. Even the use of a humidifier can help you feel better.

 

When is most likely to contact your doctor in case of pharyngitis?

If the problem is not resolved within a few days, if it is associated with high fever, swollen lymph nodes in the neck or eczema you should contact your doctor.
