The Department of Nuclear Medicine, led by Dr. Marcello Rodari with the supervision of Prof. Laura Evangelista, provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to more than 10,000 patients annually. The team specializes in using unsealed sources of ionizing radiation for the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of conditions.
Equipped with a state-of-the-art SPECT/CT scanner, the department performs comprehensive scintigraphic investigations across multiple specialties, including oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, endocrinology, neurology, nephro-urology, gastroenterology, and pulmonology.
Additionally, the PET-cyclotron unit enables advanced positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, particularly for oncology and neurology applications.
The department also offers outpatient therapy for benign thyroid conditions such as hyperthyroidism and goiter. For patients requiring high-dose radiopharmaceutical treatments, dedicated protected inpatient rooms are available, supporting therapies for thyroid cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, and metastatic prostate cancer.
