On February 24, Professor Giulio Maira received the Medicine Award “Raffaele Marinosci”, created by the Greek Foundation – New Cultural Proposal. The proposal came from the Deputy Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs of Quirinale, Lucrezia Ruggi D’Aragona.
Valter Mainetti, CEO of the Sorgente Group, defined Professor Giulio Maira as “an example of life” for his energy and enthusiasm, that inspired so many years of professional and social involvement, said the CEO who made the compliment.
Professor Maira, a consultant at the Humanitas Neurosurgery Unit, has been working in Neurosurgery for 40 years. So far, he has operated more than 13.500 patients, including artists, Presidents and Popes.
He is also the President of Atena Onlus Foundation, which he founded in 2001, waiming to promote Neuroscience research, thanks to the collaboration of some of the most important Neuroscience Centers in the world.
In the ceremony held at the Quirinale Library in Rome, Prof. Maira gave a Lectio Magistralis on “Research and Neurosurgery”.
