The Humanitas Congress Centre in Rozzano (Milan) will host the course, organized in collaboration with the Istituto Superiore della Sanità – Registro della Procreazione Assistita and the Humanitas Fertility Center, on methods of preserving fertility in cancer patients on December 4. The course – which includes lectures and discussions from 8:45 to 16:20, in Via Manzoni 113 – is free and provides for the provision of 6.3 credits ECM training.
The objectives of the initiative
The courses – supervised by the scientific direction of Giulia Scaravelli of the National Register of PMA – CNaPPS – Istituto Superiore di Sanità and Prof. Paolo Emanuele Levi-Setti of the Department of Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine of Humanitas – are aimed at health care personnel and various professionals to create a network system among different professionals, oncologists, general practitioners, pediatricians, reproductive physicians, psychologists, biologists, nurses, midwives, patient associations and volunteers.
The aim is to coordinate the action of doctors working in the oncology field with experts in reproductive medicine and with psychologists in order to offer efficient and comprehensive care to oncology patients in pre-fertile and fertile age.
Patients, in fact, can now access treatments to preserve fertility without necessarily delaying the start of the therapy: the task of the doctor and health professionals is to provide correct information, clarifying the possible techniques of preservation, and any appropriate psychological support to deal with any infertility.
Speakers and experts from Humanitas will include Elena Albani, Annamaria Baggiani, Renzo Benaglia, Alexia Francesca Bertuzzi, Elisa Cesaratto, Margarita Gjeloshi, Giovanna Masci, Emanuela Mencaglia, Luciano Negri, Cristina Specchia, Rosalba Torrisi and Corrado Tinterri.
