The Istituto Clinico Humanitas of Rozzano from 13 to 15 June hosted the tenth edition of IMAGE (International Management Advanced Gastroenterology & Endoscopy), the international endoscopy course directed by four Humanitas specialists: Professor Alessandro Repici, Head of Digestive Endoscopy, Dr Silvia Carrara, Head of the Ecoendoscopy Programme, Dr Andrea Anderloni, Head of the Bilio-Pancreatica Operational Endoscopy Section and Dr Roberta Maselli, specialist in Digestive Endoscopy.
The presence of an internationally renowned faculty helped provide participants with a high level of experience and the opportunity to discuss the most innovative and advanced endoscopic technologies in the diagnostic and therapeutic field.
This year, among the important topics of the course, we find in particular the application of artificial intelligence in the diagnostic field, the novelties in the endoscopic field to improve the endoscopic, curative and palliative approach to gastrointestinal tract neoplasms and the endoscopic treatment of obesity.
The application of artificial intelligence in digestive endoscopy allows to identify, process and classify small polyps and lesions that could escape the human eye. The main advantage of this technology is the possibility to improve the prevention of colorectal cancer by identifying small and benign lesions that, if not identified and removed, would undergo malignant transformation over time.
Lectures themes and live endoscopy sessions
IMAGE’s scientific programme includes readings on various topics, such as the treatment of achalasia with endoscopic peroral mytomy (POEM), the treatment of obesity, superficial neoplastic lesions and the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to biliary and pancreatic diseases.
In addition, live from Building 2, some of the world’s leading endoscopy experts joined the Humanitas endoscopy team, led by Prof. Repici, to perform live diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with the most innovative equipment available and coming out on the market. IMAGE was also attended by the main manufacturers of equipment and devices used in endoscopy, that showed participants how to treat and manage the most complex cases with the help of the latest generation of endoscopic technologies.
