Asma Zero Week will be held from 3 to 7 June throughout Italy: a national event that offers patients with free asthma specialist advice. The initiative is promoted by Federasma e Allergie Onlus, with the patronage of the Italian Society of Allergology, Asthma and Clinical Immunology (SIAAIC) and the Italian Society of Pneumology.
The objective of the event is to raise the awareness of citizens about asthma and its symptoms and offer patients with a diagnosis of asthma the opportunity to make a free specialist visit to the centers that have joined the initiative, in order to monitor the progress of the disease and receive advice on its management.
Humanitas also participates in the initiative, with free specialist visits with experts from the Centre for Personalized Medicine Asthma and Allergology during Thursday 6 June at the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Rozzano (Building 2, first floor, Area Self Ambulators A) and Wednesday 5 June at Humanitas Medical Care Fiordaliso (floor 1), in via Eugenio Curiel 25 in Rozzano.
To book, call the toll-free number 800 628989 (Monday to Friday, from 9am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm). For more information, click here.
Asthma: the importance of proper management
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract. Today, thanks to the knowledge and treatments available, in many cases it is possible to reduce the impact of the disease on daily life, prevent its exacerbations and control its course.
However, it is essential that asthma is diagnosed, treated and managed correctly, in order to avoid even serious consequences. For this reason, it is important that asthmatic patients are informed about the risks associated with inappropriate management of the disease and the excessive use of bronchodilators with rapid onset of action and that they undergo regular specialist checks to assess the state of disease and the adequacy of treatment.
