An extensive, high-quality health service that is accessible in a comfortable and agile manner, that takes into account the needs and problems of all, thus improving the quality of life. This is the objective that Humanitas has set itself with the opening in Milan of several Humanitas Medical Care collection points. The project for the widespread dissemination of the service stems from the desire of Humanitas to offer citizens several centers located in strategic areas of the city, well served by public transport or within shopping centers. To find out more, we talked with Dr. Elisabetta Corsi, medical contact for the Humanitas Medical Care collection points in Milan.
The 4 centres of Milan and the two outpatient clinics
Currently in Milan there are four withdrawal centres, all of which have agreements with the National Health Service (SSN) and the main insurance funds.
HMC Fiordaliso, at the Fiordaliso shopping centre in via Eugenio Curiel 25, Rozzano (MI)
HMC Domodossola (ex Centro Static) in via Domodossola 9/A, Milan
HMC Lippi in via F.Lippi 19, Milan
HMC Ponti in via E.Ponti 57, Milan
In all the centres they offer the possibility to carry out the main laboratory tests (blood, urine, biological samples) for adults and children from 2 years of age.
The HMC Fiordaliso Points and Via Domodossola are outpatient clinics where it is also possible to carry out specialist visits.
There is no need to make a reservation. Withdrawals also on Saturday mornings
HMC Points are settled with the National Health Service (SSN) and with the main insurance funds. Therefore, no reservation is required to access but it is sufficient to show up with the doctor’s commitment, on the days and hours established. Withdrawals can also be made on Saturday mornings.
Innovation, speed and practicality
The HMC sampling points are equipped with new laboratories that use state-of-the-art methods and equipment. Test results are quick thanks to the possibility of online consultation through the portal “Humanitas con te” and, in the Fiordaliso Centre, they can be printed or saved independently on their own USB stick through a dedicated totem.
The offer of a free consultation on the reports, on the days and times established by each structure, is also an exclusive service of Humanitas, an added value compared to other hospital facilities.
How to reach the centres
The pick-up points, also to meet the needs of those who have difficulties in moving, are located in strategic points of the city. All the centres are well served and, in particular, the HMC Fiordaliso pick-up point can be reached by car, by public transport (MM2 and tram 15), with the free shuttle service from Rozzano. In addition, it offers the possibility of free parking in the Shopping Centre.
Specialized services for children
A characteristic of the Humanitas collection points is the specialisation in the collection of samples from children from the age of two.
“Basically, it is necessary to be able to manage children (from two years of age and up) and parents, and to be able to make blood samples, considering that finding the child’s veins is not an easy task – explains Dr Corsi -. It is necessary to have the ability to reassure the children who, on average, arrive terrified, to distract them and contain them (in case they are not able to calm them down) in order to be able to make the sample quickly and correctly.
“It can also be difficult to manage the parents, who are usually anxious, fear that the child suffers and of course expect the meeting with the health care staff to be as less traumatic as possible, “says the doctor. Even though all HMC Centres collect children, “the Cornflower Centre in particular has highly specialised healthcare staff for this service for young patients,” the doctor explains.
In fact, a simple manoeuvre such as the withdrawal, on children is a bit ‘more complicated: you need experience, predisposition, manual skills, patience, ability to instill security and peace of mind. “For us the goal is that small children do not suffer a stress or trauma that will be remembered for life. The conquest of my day is to see the child go away with a smile,” concludes Dr Corsi.
