Doctor Domenico Vitobello is the Director of the Gynaecological Unit at Humanitas Research Hospital since 2009.
He is an expert in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic procedures for the treatment of both gynaecological benign pathologies, such as endometriosis, myoma-fibroids, ovarian cysts, female urinary incontinence, genital prolapse, and also oncological pathologies, such as ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial and vulva cancer.
Doctor Vitobello has handled numerous types of surgeries, from oncological laparotomy surgery in case of ovarian cancer or other non-removable tumour with minimally invasive surgery to minimally invasive robotic oncological surgery for cervical cancer (radical hysterectomy) and endometrial cancer, with particular experience in the obese patients.
He performs minimally invasive surgery in the re-entry of genital neoplasms (lymphadenectomies), conservative surgical treatments for fertility in case of early genitals neoplasms, minimally invasive surgery in the treatment of early endometriosis or deep endometriosis (rectum-bladder), rectal resection or nodules.
Furthermore, Doctor Vitobello also deals with laparoscopic hysterectomy (removal of the uterus), also for large and already operated uteri, laparoscopic myomectomy, removal of uterine fibroids, laparoscopic surgery for ovarian cysts and adnexal pathology, vaginal surgery for prolapse and urinary incontinence, vaginal hysterectomy and vagina plastic reconstruction.
He carries an intense research out in the oncological-gynaecological field, through divisional or collaborative scientific studies, and in the field of minimally invasive surgery, with particular attention to robotic surgery.
Current Teaching Activity: Doctor Vitobello is adjunct professor at Humanitas University both in Medicine and Nursing Course.
He also is tutor for the Intuitive Company for training and use of the Da Vinci surgical system.
