She began her experience as a scholarship holder of the Postgraduate School in Oncological Radiotherapy and worked as a speciality doctor from 1992. During these years, she co-operated with clinical and scientific research in various oncological fields. In particular, she gained experience in the treatment of all diseases of childhood cancer, taking part in several national and international multicentre institutional research projects, co-operating with the AIRC (Italian Association for Cancer Research) research project on thyroid neoplasms arising in children after exposure to radiation. She actively participated in the formation of the Italian Sarcoma Group for the treatment of patients with soft tissue and bone sarcomas. She collaborated with the Oncology and Haematology Departments for the treatment of patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and Hodgkin's Disease, with particular attention to those patients undergoing bone marrow transplant. In later years, she gained experience in the treatment of lung bronchus cancer, participating as radiotherapist referee in two important randomised multicentre studies.
