Wheezing is a breath associated with a high-pitched sound, like a whistle, which can indicate the presence of respiratory problems. To generate the hiss is a passage of air through constricted airways, in most instances the bronchi. It is not however excluded that the narrowing also relates to greater airway caliber or people with problems to the vocal cords.
Typically the hiss is more intense with the exhalation, in some cases it is also during inspiration. The basis of its appearance may be disease, certain drugs, smoking or inhaling a foreign object.
