The treatment for amenorrhea depends on its cause. Sometimes it can be useful to take contraceptives based on hormones and other times, for instance if the thyroid pituitary gland is involved, it is necessary to take specific drugs.

If amenorrhea is determined by the presence of a tumour or a systemic problem, a surgical intervention is necessary.
