Who can undergo this type of examination?

This examination is recommended for individuals who are overweight  (with a body mass index greater than 25), and facing additional risk factors such as smoking, family history of cardiovascular disease, hypercholesterolemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension or obesity (with a body mass index greater than 30).

Unfortunately, weight gain is complicated. It is a combination of hormonal controls, diet composition, genetics and lifestyle changes including sleep, physical activity and stress levels. All these factors combined can cause an imbalance in an individual’s body. Therefore, by undergoing an examination to get to the root of the problem, individuals can go about living a healthy lifestyle with reduced risk of complications. In turn, controlling weight and metabolism can help restore balance.

Why undergo this type of examination?

Obesity, hypertension, abnormal metabolism of fat and sugar, diabetes, smoking, sedentary lifestyle are all severe risk factors for the occurrence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, which can cause a heart attack and stroke.

Identifying and possibly treating these factors (either pharmacologically or other) can help prevent complications and ensure an individual a long and healthier life. Humanitas Lab offers patients a complete path for prevent, diagnosis, and medical treatment of main metabolic problems.

The patient will be greeted by a highly qualified Humanitas doctor who will create a personalized program for further investigation of the patient’s overall health status and continue to follow them through each step of the process along the way. A customized dietary treatment plan will also be presented to the patient, based on findings, phenotype and needs of patient in question. A careful analysis of clinical examinations by a specialist also allows for excluding more serious problems and providing patients with precise necessary information needed to help trace the framework of their health.
